Montezuma Castle National Monument | Native American Heritage Month Events


Join us for these special events in honor of Native American Heritage Month.

In honor of Native Americans’ contributions to American culture, Montezuma Castle National Monument will host special events each weekend in November to commemorate National Native American Heritage Month. These events are free with park admission. All events will take place from 10 AM to 2 PM unless otherwise noted.

 

Saturday, November 3
9 AM–3 PM

Join us for our 4th annual Yavapai-Apache Nation Celebration. This event will feature many artists, singers, and dancers honoring both Yavapai and Apache history and heritage.

 

Sunday, November 4
2 PM

Join us for storytelling with Ryon Polequaptewa.

 

Saturday, November 10
10 AM–2 PM

Watch Hopi weaver Davis Maho demonstrate traditional Hopi weaving styles.

 

Sunday, November 11 (fee free day)
10 AM–2 PM

Learn about Zuni jewelry and fetish carving with demonstrations by Jimmy Yawakia and Duran Gasper.

11:30 AM

Enjoy a performance by the Hopi High School classical guitar ensemble.

 

Saturday, November 17
10 AM–2 PM

Observe traditional jewelry-making demonstrations with renowned Kewa Pueblo artist Priscilla Nieto.

 

Sunday, November 18
10 AM–2 PM

Join us for an art showcase from brothers Jeremy and Kyle Navenma, whose artwork is inspired by living on the Hopi Mesas.

 

Saturday, November 24
10 AM–2 PM

Watch traditional katsina carving during demonstrations by Hopi artist Norman Cuch.

 

Sunday, November 25
10 AM–2 PM

Learn about Hopi culture as Samuel Masayumptewa demonstrates katsina carving.
