Outlaw Tales of Arizona

Presented by author Jan Cleere

Join author Jan Cleere as she educates us on some of the most astounding criminals ever to roam our home state. Outlaw Tales of Arizona (Globe Pequot Press, $10.95) uncovers eleven true stories of the state’s most notorious outlaws and events from the late 1800s. Massacres, mayhem, and mischief lurk between these pages, bringing back wild times when the law and the lawless were often in cahoots and no one was safe from the whim of a gun-slinging desperado. Learn about how Buckskin Frank Leslie would stand his wife against a wall and shoot around her silhouette. Find out why few jails could hold Augustine Chacon, who boasted of killing more than fifty men. Hear about the likes of Charles Stanton who sipped his favorite Irish whiskey while unsavory gunmen looted and killed under his orders. Reservations required: please call 622-6014 during business hours, beginning one week prior to the event.
