Finely Crafted Mata Ortiz pottery, colorful Oaxacan wood carvings and richly textured Zapotec rugs return to the San Antonio Missions. Master potter Jorge Quintana and celebrated Oaxacan artist, Jacobo Angeles will be present to share their art. Quintana’s beautiful and unique masterpieces reflect a diverse history that includes pre-Hispanic influences fused with American Indian craftsmanship. Angeles’s Oaxacan woodcarvings, a magnificent expression of Mexican folk art, are created entirely by hand and capture the imagination with intricate patterns and intriguing colors. Artist demonstrations will go on throughout the three day event.
