Join renowned maskmaker, and seven-time Grammy® nominee, Will Clipman, for this engaging class: Rites of Spring: Myth, Mask, and Personal Renewal. Spring is a time of renewal; the Earth awakens from a winter of hibernation, and it is the perfect time to make a new mask.

Will Clipman will guide the participants through the process of Lifecasting, painting and embellishment of individual mask art; the composition of an original Mythic Persona Poem giving voice to the unique imaginary character embodied in each mask; the gathering of found 3D objects for mask embellishment in an informal Artistic Treasure Hunt, and the opportunity to present the work-in-progress in a culminating Circe of Celebration.

Will has provided over two hundred workshops, lecture-demonstrations, master classes, full-length artist-in-residencies, and self-realization events to elementary, middle, and high schools, colleges and universities, art galleries, libraries, adult prisons, juvenile detention facilities, senior centers, hospitals, parks and recreation programs, retreat centers, spas and resorts. His service to the community as an arts educator has been honored with the Arizona Commission on the Arts Decade of Distinguished Service Award and two Governor’s Arts Award Nominations.

Limited to 12 participants.
