Contemporary Mata Ortiz pottery displays a diverse history that includes pre-Hispanic influences fused with American Indian craftsmanship. Intricate Mata Ortiz pottery and vibrant Zapotec rugs will be on display. Daily pottery firings at 11 AM & 2 PM. Artist demonstrations throughout each day.

Mata Ortiz pottery, with its spiritual and ancestral symbolism, represents the artistry and innovation of Puebloan culture. Mata Ortiz is a small pueblo located in northern Mexico, and the potters of Mata Ortiz draw inspiration from ancient Mesoamerican artists. Mata Ortiz potters balance ancient practice with contemporary flair.
