Film: California Missions

California’s El Camino Real (also known as “The King’s Highway”) connects 21 Spanish missions from San Diego to Sonoma. Over a route of nearly 600 miles, these missions established a foothold in California for the Spanish Crown. In addition to introducing a new culture, they furthered the spread of European religions, agricultural practices, and, eventually, forms of government. Learn more about the establishment of these missions and how they continue to impact California today.
