See the film that made Captain Irving Johnson a favorite on the lecture circuit around the world!
Wednesday, August 3
11 AM Only
In 1929, the last great days of commercial sailing were passing. During that year, Captain Irving Johnson sailed aboard the massive barque, Peking. In this film, he narrates the passage in the style that has made him a favorite on the lecture circuit around the world. The most spectacular scenes were filmed during a wild storm as the ship rounds the feared Cape Horn. This is not a commercial documentary, but more like Johnson’s personal home movie of his experience. Black and white.
Running time: 37 minutes
