National Parks Store: Film–Arizona Footprints of the Ancients


This 50-minute film offers a glimpse into the everyday lives of Arizona’s ancient residents as well as sensational views of the surrounding landscapes.

Join WNPA for an insightful film featuring nine national monuments and historical sites. The stars of this movie are the well-preserved archaeological treasures that tell the story of the early American Indians who lived and survived in the Southwest. Arizona Footprints of the Ancients examines the elegant early structures and life-ways built with primitive tools, and the early inhabitants who crafted a life here.

Directors Jim Watt and Kelly Watt’s 50-minute film offers a glimpse into the everyday lives of Arizona’s ancient residents as well as sensational views of the surrounding landscapes. These two filmmakers have directed several segments of the Discoveries series, including site-specific films about the national parks.

Arizona Footprints of the Ancients features 9 National Monuments and National Historic Sites in northern Arizona, including: Navajo National Monument (NM), Wupatki NM, Sunset Crater NM, Walnut Canyon, NM, Montezuma Castle NM, Tuzigoot NM, Tonto NM, Casa Grande Ruins NM, Canyon de Chelly NM, and Hubbell Trading Post NHS.
