Dr. Cecil Schwalbe’s warm sense of humor will enlighten and entertain as he shares his observations of the wild backyard visitors--javelinas.
For the past dozen years, Dr. Cecil Schwalbe and his wife, Carol, have lived in the buffer zone just west of Saguaro National Park East. They have lovingly named their home the Schwalbe Beast and Breakfast where they have spent many an hour observing the diverse and abundant wildlife that visit their backyard pond. Native frogs and fish reside in the pond, drawing desert predators into their backyard banquet–namely, javelinas.
Join Cecil as he shares his observations of these wild backyard visitors. This presentation of slides and stories is the second in his Living on the Edge series. In this installment, he will address the behavior and ecology of javelinas living on this edge of human civilization, including surprising insights into the leadership of a javelina herd and tough decisions the herd has to make. Cecil’s warm sense of humor will enlighten and entertain.
