Chaco Canyon Place Names
In 1849, the Washington Expedition, a military reconnaissance under the direction of Lt. James Simpson, surveyed Navajo lands and viewed and reported on the ancestral Puebloan and Navajo cultural sites now associated with Chaco Culture NHP.
