Western
National Parks Association has donated more than $55 million
to the National Park Service. Modest annual donations that
began in 1941 with $160 have grown to more than $4.3 million
a year. This has enabled parks to meet many educational and
interpretative needs that were otherwise impossible with government
funding. Projects include:
- audiovisual
equipment
- historical
period costumes
- books
and reference resources for park libraries
- educational
materials for school groups
- museum
displays and exhibits
- employment
of American Indian craft demonstrators
- training
for park staff and volunteers
