Western National Parks Association has donated more than $55 million to the National Park Service. Modest annual donations that began in 1941 with $160 have grown to more than $4.3 million a year. This has enabled parks to meet many educational and interpretative needs that were otherwise impossible with government funding. Projects include:

  • audiovisual equipment
  • historical period costumes
  • books and reference resources for park libraries
  • educational materials for school groups
  • museum displays and exhibits
  • employment of American Indian craft demonstrators
  • training for park staff and volunteers
