The history of Little Bighorn Battlefield is that of a struggle between cultures. Since George Armstrong Custer and his 7th Cavalry fell in combat with the native people of the northern Plains, the Sioux, Cheyenne, Arapaho, Arikara, and Crow peoples have held the battlefield as an important part of their history. In 2003, the National Park Service dedicated a new Indian Memorial to recognize the significance of the battlefield to Plains cultures. This book describes the memorial and the history of the effort to include indigenous people in the site. ^~Publisher: Western National Parks Association ^~ISBN: 9781583690826 ^~Soft cover: 16 pages, 8" x 6".
